At Hotel “Goldener Karpfen,” modern, refined hospitality and sophisticated cuisine blend with over 120 years of tradition to create a truly unique ensemble.
our history
The “Goldener Karpfen” is a family-run hotel with a long-standing history. First opened in 1904 under the same name as an inn with a butcher’s shop, it has since evolved into a hotel with 40 rooms and various dining and event spaces.
After being damaged and expropriated during and after World War II, the property was returned in 1948, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Subsequent renovations, modernizations, and expansions prepared the “Goldener Karpfen” for the future. The purchase of a neighboring building enabled further enlargement of the hotel and the addition of a wine tavern.
For many years, the “Goldener Karpfen” has consistently ranked among the best hotels in Hesse in hospitality and gastronomy awards.
Under the roof of the “Goldener Karpfen,” people from the worlds of culture, business, and politics come together – as well as romantic lovers of fine living.
The “Goldener Karpfen” in Fulda is now run by sisters Renate and Maria in the fourth generation. What began with their great-grandparents as a simple “fish fry parlor” has, over the course of 120 years, evolved into a refined and romantic boutique hotel, where the mission has always been to pamper guests and provide them with generous care and attention.
This commitment is reflected in the carefully renovated rooms, designed to offer the restful sleep and balance our guests seek, perfected again and again through a distinctive approach to comfort.
The guest rooms are as diverse as they are unique – ranging from minimalist chic inspired by Rolf Sachs to themed rooms such as Elvis Presley, Japan, Bauhaus, or Pretty Woman.
A private underground garage directly connected to the hotel and a large rooftop parking area ensure ample parking for all guests.
Family Tünsmeyer
The “Goldener Karpfen” and the Tünsmeyer family have been inseparably linked since the hotel’s founding. With passion, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit, the family has initiated groundbreaking developments in every generation.
Yet throughout the hotel’s 120-year history, the guest has always been at the heart of everything. This guiding principle is lived out every minute of the day by the current owners, sisters Maria and Renate Tünsmeyer, and passed on to both staff and guests alike.
